Joe and his familyJoe Garrison is an ambitious man: he has completed not one, but two Ironman triathlons; he has co-chaired the Fund Run two years in a row; he has lived in 18 countries; and he supports not only the schools his kids go to, but all schools in the district. That ambition, matched by a generous heart, is why the Eureka Schools Foundation (ESF) is thrilled to have Joe as a new board member.

Like many other families, the Garrisons moved to Granite Bay for the warm community, excellent schools, and beautiful California weather. Joe’s family includes his wife, Krista, 6th-grader Collin, and 4th-grader Paige. The Garrisons love physical activity, family adventures, good food, and bad movies. Both kids have enjoyed being part of the district since kindergarten.

Joe was drawn to ESF’s mission of enriching the education experience–not just supplementing budget shortfalls (which is, of course, crucial), but also ESF’s bigger picture of preparing our kids for the 21st century and providing them with many of the benefits of a private education in a public school setting. Joe has been inspired by other parent volunteers, who have shared so much of their resources for the betterment of the community.

“I hope to carry the torch to the next generation of parents, community members, and local businesses,” Joe told us. “Change is a constant and it’s critical that we continue to raise awareness and encourage participation from our community.” As a new board member, Joe will use his presentation skills and sales expertise to usher in new ideas about how we communicate the value of ESF sponsorship to local businesses and companies.  He understands that we are a community that supports its sponsors.

We can’t wait to see Joe’s new ideas and ambition in action!
